Psychotropic Medications for Dementia Behaviors: Useful or Harmful?

Dr. Glen Xiong, Assistant Clinical Professor, UC Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, will be presenting on the important topic of medications. Challenging behaviors associated with the diagnosis of dementia can be burdensome. Although, to date, no psychotropic medications are currently approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat these behaviors, a number of drug classes are used. Dr. Xiong will help explain if these medications are effective, useful or harmful.
