Our mission at Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center is to improve the well being of caregivers and provide support throughout the caregiving process. Our services include - information and referral, family consultation services, and contractual services for legal/financial advice, family counseling, and respite care to caregivers.

 

Family Consultation

Assist caregivers in understanding the disease process, developing a care plan, and accessing a support system.

 

Family Counseling

Short term counseling focusing on caregiving issues with referral to local resources and professionals serving family members.

 

Respite Care

Time limited substitute care to alleviate caregiver stress. Available through contracted services and with a participant's share of cost based on a sliding scale.

 

Legal/Financial Consultation

One time consultation provided by an attorney (pertaining to long term care planning needs).

 

Information and Referral

Referrals to community resources.

 

Education and Training

Provision and/or coordination of training and other professional educational programs in subjects related to research, diagnosis, behavioral management, stress reduction, etc.

 

Support Groups

Referrals to existing support groups; assistance in establishing needed support groups.


Eligibility

Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center is primarily funded through a contract with the California State Department of Mental Health. Eligibility includes:

  • Family members or concerned professionals must live within the 13-county service area and are eligible for information and referral services, family support groups, caregiver training and conferences.

  • Other services are available to those providing care for a person whose brain impairment occurred during adulthood (age 18 and older) and who is not eligible for assistance from other publicly supported programs or similar benefits.

Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center also receives funding from Area 4 Agency on Aging (A4AA) for caregiver services through the National Family Caregiver Support Program. This program funded through the Older Americans Act assists caregivers of the frail elderly, (ages 60 years and older), with their daily physical and emotional care of their loved one.

  • A4AA funds in Placer and Sacramento Counties are utilized to provide respite care. A4AA funds are also used in Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba Counties for Information and Assistance, Comprehensive Assessment, Community Education, Outreach, Support Groups, Caregiver Training and Legal Assistance.
